Working with the Changing Places Consortium, our organisation is hoping to help and assist everyone needing the enhanced provision of these toilets, that would help them to enjoy the day to day activities many of us take for granted.<\/p>\n<h2>The Changing Places Consortium<\/h2>\n<p>The Changing Places Consortium is a group of organisations working to support the rights of people with profound and multiple learning disabilities to access their community. The Changing Places Consortium is campaigning for Changing Places toilets to be installed in big public places.<\/p>\n<p>The members of the Consortium are:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.dundee.ac.uk\/pamis\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Pamis<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"changingplaces@musculardystrophyuk.org\">Mucular Dystrophy<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.cae.org.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Centre for Accessible Environment<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.scotland.gov.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Scottish government<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The Changing Places Consortium launched its campaign on behalf of those people who cannot use standard accessible toilets.This includes people with profound and multiple learning disabilities and their carers, as well as\u00a0many other disabled people.\u00a0They need Changing Places toilets with enough space\u00a0and the right equipment, including a height adjustable changing bench and a hoist.<\/p>\n<h3>What exactly is a Changing Places Toilets?<\/h3>\n<p><strong>Standard disabled toilets do not meet the needs of all people with a disability \u2013 or their carers. <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>People with profound and multiple learning\u00a0disabilities, as well as other serious impairments\u00a0such as\u00a0spinal injuries, muscular dystrophy, multiple sclerosis or an acquired brain injury, often need extra facilities to allow them to use the toilets comfortably.<\/p>\n<p>Changing Places toilets are different to standard disabled toilets with extra features and more space to meet these needs.<\/p>\n<p>Each Changing Places toilet provides:<\/p>\n<h3><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\" alignright\" src=\"http:\/\/www.changing-places.org\/Portals\/0\/images\/content_images\/Standard%20page%20images\/Small\/using_hoist.jpg\" alt=\"Equipment\" width=\"100\" height=\"100\" align=\"left\" border=\"1\" hspace=\"10\" vspace=\"10\" \/>The right equipment<\/h3>\n<p>&#8211; a\u00a0height adjustable adult-sized changing bench<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; a\u00a0tracking hoist system, or mobile hoist if this is not possible.<\/p>\n<h3><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\" alignright\" src=\"http:\/\/www.changing-places.org\/Portals\/0\/images\/content_images\/Standard%20page%20images\/Small\/CP_toilet.jpg\" alt=\"Changing Places toilet\" width=\"100\" height=\"100\" align=\"left\" border=\"1\" hspace=\"10\" vspace=\"10\" \/>Enough space<\/h3>\n<p>&#8211; adequate space in the changing area for the disabled person and up to two carers<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; a\u00a0centrally placed toilet with room either side for the carers<img loading=\"lazy\" class=\" alignright\" src=\"http:\/\/www.changing-places.org\/Portals\/0\/images\/content_images\/Standard%20page%20images\/Small\/bench_and_hoist.jpg\" alt=\"Changing Places toilet\" width=\"100\" height=\"100\" align=\"left\" border=\"1\" hspace=\"10\" vspace=\"10\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&#8211; a\u00a0screen or curtain to allow the disabled person<br \/>\nand carer some<br \/>\nprivacy<\/p>\n<h3>A safe and clean environment<\/h3>\n<p>&#8211; wide tear off paper roll to cover the bench<\/p>\n<p>&#8211;
